TJHSAA & TJ LEGACY FUND
Founded in the spring of 2005, Thomas Jefferson High School Alumni Association (TJHSAA) will soon enter its second decade and continue to grow into an Association that will live long into the future. Establishment of the TJ Legacy Fund at The Dallas Foundation offers several benefits to our Association, including prestige and respectability, a way to nurture our money, and a process for accepting and managing donations.
The mission of TJHSAA is to provide practical and emotional support to the school, its administrators and faculty, and most importantly its students. More than $80,000 in scholarships has been awarded to deserving graduates, resulting in many success stories. We have also raised substantial funds for targeted special projects, such as improving and outfitting the athletic weight room, providing new uniforms for the drill team, and helping kick off the Master Leadership Program for students, which has been implemented by our principal, Ms. Sandi Massey. In an effort to recognize and honor TJ Alums and to publicize our Association, we have created and annually presented the following TJ awards: Distinguished Alumni Award, Richard E. Stroud Distinguished Service Award (honoring administration and faculty members, and named after our first principal), the Patriot Award (recognizing special contributions to the school), and an Athletic Hall of Fame. Additionally we have hosted ten consecutive fall Alumni Golf Tournaments, which have served as fundraisers. Additional information regarding these and other TJHSAA activities can be found on our website.
We are asking for your contribution today. The TJHSAA Legacy Fund has two categories of accounts: “Scholarships” and “Gifts,” the latter being a more general fund whose uses include not only our many special projects but also our (extremely austere!) operating expenses. We accept donations of any amount through the TJHSAA (mailing address and PayPal options at www.tjdallasalum.org), or if you prefer, contributions may be made directly to the TJ Legacy Fund at The Dallas Foundation at www.dallasfoundation.org. They also have an option for a “Donor Designated Account,” which can be more specific but does have a $5,000 minimum. If you would like to include us in a bequest, you may also do so there. But whatever method of contribution you choose, please stipulate your desired category (either “Scholarships” or “Gifts”).
We depend upon donations from the “TJ Family.” Each gift is important. Please write graduating class on your check.

Mary Anne’s TJ Kids’ Endowment Fund
The Thomas Jefferson High School Alumni Association is extremely pleased to announce the establishment of the Mary Anne’s TJ Kids’ Endowment Fund at The Dallas Foundation. This $350,000 fund has been created by seven generous TJ alums from the Cree and Williams families in honor of their mother, Mrs. Mary Anne Cree, who is also a substantial benefactor. The annual proceeds from this fund will be used to help support the ongoing scholarship program provided by the TJHSAA for deserving TJ graduates.
We wanted to share this exciting news with the entire TJ community, while also extending our most sincere gratitude to Mrs. Cree and her seven TJ children for this incredible display of philanthropy.
